Who?
I'm Raina, founder of DeadThreads Fabric, sustainability champion, aspiring crone, wanderer, reader, feminist, mom, stepmom, cat mom, Nonnie, thrifter, sewist, dabbler in all the hobbies, fierce anti-racist & staunch lgbtq+ ally. Lover of conversations, crafternoons, movement & our Mother Earth.
I have long held the belief that we need to return to a “quilting circle.” A place where we shared skills, talents, supplies & knowledge. A place where traditions were passed down while creating something beautiful and useful. Facilitating the transfer of fabric and sewing supplies from one sewist to another and making sewing more accessible is a small step in my dream of a larger, “return to the quilting circle.”

What?
- Fabric: A large selection of secondhand and deadstock fabrics and linens.
- Sewing Notions: Buttons, zippers, trims, lace, ribbons, appliques and more.
- Patterns: A selection of new, classic and retro patterns for your next garment or accessory.
All at thrift store prices!

Why?
Like so many, I got back into sewing in 2020 and started accumulating fabric. I soon realized that my own fabric buying and hoarding wasn’t any different than the fast fashion that I have loudly advocated against for years. As a lifelong thrifter and secondhand shopper, I started thinking about a secondhand fabric store.
There are so many reasons to shop secondhand fabric and supplies and so much to say about fabric production and costs to the environment and human rights, but I’ll keep it short…
•We are in a climate crisis.
•There is SO MUCH fabric in circulation.
•Sewing can be expensive, but it doesn't have to be.
My goal is to match the fabrics & supplies from overflowing stashes with makers who can use them, at prices that makes sewing more accessible to everyone.
Thank you for being here, I hope you stick around and shop.
Stay sustainable, friends!
